I noticed Norifalise is listed in that top-30 listing from Stltoday. He is also the only lefty pitcher we signed, and we really need a lefty in the bullpen so he might get a shot to relieve and play some OF as a freshman. I didn't see the school release for the 8 kids hopefully coming to campus outside of Norifalise, so I'll link it here. http://www.missouristatebears.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=13800&ATCLID=3631995 Barber is a former teammate of Meade's with the Chillicothe Mudcats of the MINK league, as just an aside.
Gordon CG, 7 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BBs, 8 Ks in 2-1 W over Elk city season totals 3-1, 2.35 ERA, 23 IP, 13 H (2B, HR), 6 ER, 16 BBs, 26 Ks, opp BA .162
Final stats Midwest Nationals Gordon 5-1, 2.19, 37 IP, 20 H(3 2Bs, 1 HR), 18 BB, 43 Ks, opp ba .159 (team leader) absolutely dominating Dalton Friend 1-3, 4.74, 19 IP, 13 H( 4 2Bs), 16 BB, 20 Ks, opp ba .203 his 3 losses came against Rawlings Black, Houston Heat, and East Cobb Astros probably the 3 best teams they played. He just didn't get any run support. If we lose Meade we need to pick up Friend if eligible.
Hopefully Grant Gordon's potential is more along the lines of his Nationals performance, because playing Houston, Licking, and Mountain Grove in the spring doesn't tell you much. Color me not impressed with our pitching signees for 2010.
Gordon outpitched Jacob Turner of Westminster Christian, a 1st round pick in last month's draft, in the playoffs this spring. I think his pedigree is decent enough to show he has an opportunity to be a front-line starter for us at some point.
Trout, this is a very good class of pitchers for us this year. We need to get Johnson in, but we have at least three pitchers who will help us next year in this class.
Pierce Johnson - Playtime Sports (CO) 4 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 8 Ks in a 5-3 L to the Katy (TX) Collegians in the first round of the NBC World Series
