What excuse did I make, I said the team has not played with toughness or brought their A game at home very many times. No excuse for not playing tough at home and do not blame the crowd for the players not playing tough!
Ummm...I was agreeing with you which is why I said "this" The excuse part came from half empty quiet crowd BS...you win your home games whether there are 10,000 or 100 fans there
It should be a privilege to put the uniform on after you have earned it from hard work in practice and shown effort in games before. Agree crowd support is bull .
There's a reason teams win over 60% of their home games in college regardless of team. That homw crowd advantage BS I read earlier was just that. Honestly, that was a post that I disagreed with more than almost any post i've ever seen on here. Hopefully, the coaches and players don't feel that way. The exact same program he cited- Wichita State- was pedestrian at home just last year with most of the same players and coaches.
4 home losses = pedestrian??? 1 loss to us and 1 loss to Final 4 VCU make up half of their home losses last year plus a 3 point loss each to UNI and SIU. 10 points is the total amount they lost by in those 4 games. If we win tonight we will have won exactly 60% of our home games. Expecting two more home wins is not unreasonable but expecting to win >90% of our home games each and every year is asinine and will just make you angry more years than not.

You're missing the point.... That 60+ percent clip INCLUDES the bottom feeders of the world. If you're a top 3 conference team you should be well above that mark. With a good team, 2 or 3 home losses is acceptable, maximum. And yes, for the talent WSU had, 4 losses was VERY pedestrian.
I love all your stats Jliehr...but like Chief mentioned overall stats take the bottom feeders into account. I bet the top 4 teams in each league are usually around the 80% mark
The home records of the top 5 Valley teams in each of the past 5 years (records were taken from ESPN.com- not sure if they include regular season neutral sites if the team was designated as the home team). Looks like slightly above 80% is the normal for the top teams in the MVC each year. We will be only the 2nd team to finish in the top 5 of the conference and have more than 4 home losses and less than 10 home wins.
Illinois State, Evansville and Indiana State. These are the three home games we definitely should have won. If we win any one of these three games, we would've clinched third. These three teams do not have more talent than we do, yet we lost to all three on our home floor. The crazy thing is that we still control our own destiny in the race for 3rd.
Familiar with the arena? Really? Every arena these guys play in is big and relatively the same. Didn't have to travel? These guys have been traveling to play ever since they were in aau ball in high school. Slept in your own bed? Really? Once again, these guys have been traveling to play ball for years. Benefit of the calls? For some reason this team never gets the benefit of the call at home. It's really weird. Vegas spots teams 4-6 points that have legitimate home court advantages. Missouri State's crowds are pathetic compared to the schools that really have crowds that come out to the games. Half filled arenas are not a home court advantage for anyone. Some does fall on the team to respond and give what crowd is there something to cheer about.
Just kidding, but if you were a woman I would think I probably dated you for a while! Disagree, but no explanation. Just messin with ya 42! I agree with 42 and disagree with Outlaw. Home court advantage is relative but real. Some games it is less or more of an actual influence on the game. Look at professional sports as another example. You see from the records at that level there are normally more wins at home for strong teams and for weak teams etc.
Historically Speaking MO St. had a 391 - 103 record in Hammons Student Center for a winning percentage of .791. During that same period our overall record was 587-376 for a winning percentage of .610. This was a period of 32 years which computes out to 3.21 losses at home per year. Only 3 times did the Bears lose more than 5 home games in a season. To not achieve or surpass these historical numbers of our past is not the program that I want to continue to support. To say we can't achieve this level of quality in the new JQH arena is not a discussion I want to be having, I'd rather be having the discussion of "Not in our House."
I hate 7 home losses, but if you're using averages we were due to a down year after the last 2 to get back to average. The part that does eat at me most is we lost at home to Illinois State, their only MVC road win. We lost at home to Indiana State who only won @ MSU and Evansville, they even lost @ Bradley. Evansville beat us, UNI and Bradley on the road. CU and WSU I can give a pass, even Oklahoma State and ODU I can live with, but the Illinois State, Indiana State and Evansville losses were the ones that shouldn't happen. At least it wasn't Stetson...
And those three losses you state would have put us under the 5 HOME LOSSES category which has happened only 3 times since HSC opened. I could live with that also, considering we had a new coach and alot of player turnover. It's those three games thats gotten under everyones crawl.
