Missouri State University announced Wednesday (Feb. 22) that it will partner with Collegiate Consulting to manage ticket sales for its intercollegiate athletic programs.

The three-year contract was approved by the MSU Board of Governors on Feb. 17 and executed by both parties early this week. The agreement will focus primarily on basketball and football ticket sales, while initiatives will also be developed for volleyball, baseball, softball and other sports as well.

Collegiate Consulting will manage the Bears’ ticket sales with a full-time, professional outbound sales staff headquartered on the Springfield campus. The staff will focus on season ticket sales, group sales and single-game sales and include a full-time staff of three -- a general manager and two account executives – to support Missouri State’s existing sales efforts and general ticketing operations.

Missouri State Director of Athletics Kyle Moats said the partnership will enable the department to strengthen existing relationship and provide an opportunity to develop new relationships and revenue sources.

“We are excited to work with Collegiate Consulting and the sales expertise they’ll be able to provide to our program,” Moats said. “The need to increase revenue is becoming paramount with the escalating costs of competing at the Division I level. The collaborative partnership between MSU and CC will expand our foundation, improve our fan experience and maximize revenue potential.”

Collegiate Consulting, which is expected to begin preliminary work on the MSU campus in early March, has provided services to more than 250 institutions throughout all levels of intercollegiate athletics.

"Missouri State has a tremendous athletic history within both the Missouri Valley Conference and nationally," Collegiate Consulting Managing Director Russell Wright said. "We are appreciative and thrilled to be working with Kyle and his team and build upon the cornerstone of support that already exists.”

The outsourcing of ticket sales has witnessed exponential growth in the past 18 months and follows the long-standing trends of universities outsourcing their licensing, and marketing rights.

    ok, minus that :) haha
  8. BearChief Role Player

This doesn't read like they're going to change all that much. Hope I'm reading it wrong.

We need, at the very least, a completely new ticketing website and knowledgeable sales staff. These people sound like they'll be marketing group and corporate tickets and the box office staff will all remain the same.

If we come out of this with the same worthless website and uninformed ticket agents this is a total waste of time.
  9. MSUBear42 BearNation Starter

This will come with a new ticketing software, I'm told.
  10. BearsCountry The Source

Should have just went with Ticketmaster.

and all the insane fees that come with??
  12. MsuDuo BEARNATION DONOR

What ticket company doesn't have fees? Our previous ticket setup had fees...

And for the love of everything good, why the heck do you have Marshall, WuShock, and a man dancing in a speedo as your signature? You seriously need some help!
  13. MSUBear42 BearNation Starter

there's a man in a speedo?? All I see is someone missing a free throw. Not sure what you're looking at

I am serious I would pay more if it meant we could do away with the also ran advertisements. You seriously get less commercials when you watch from home and there I have a mute button.

The initial RFP said we have an existing contract with Tickets.com, that the only thing they will be doing is bringing in a guy like ORU has to market and promote the existing avenues for tickets. And the way the contract was presented to the BOG shows that they were not interested in replacing the ticketing software.

The frustrating part is MSU was unable to reach an agreement with the highest scored provider http://www.global-spectrum.com/region/en/index.aspx , they do more arena management functions for things like the Arizona Cardinals stadium, University of Miami, Chaiffetz at SLU, USC's arena, South Florida, UCF, Wells Fargo in Des Moines and others. This just gets back to the small mindedness of some in power, we need someone to come in, run JQH and make it profitable for everything, not just selling some tickets.

One of my co workers has dealt with JQH a lot. They say if it wasn't for the secretary over there they would never get concerts. They said its impossible to talk to anyone over there.
  18. MSUBear42 BearNation Starter

Jliehr, I believe Global Spectrum backed out, fwiw.
  19. jliehr BearNation Starter

The fact that MSU insists on controlling the tickets for these events drives a lot of them away. I have done pre-sales for 3 events now and it's so poorly run (through fan clubs), you have to get your tickets on the day of the event which can be a headache, but it's nice to know you have tickets and don't have to fight the phones or MSUTix to get them.
  20. jliehr BearNation Starter

I probably would have also after meeting some of the people responsible for things.

In an ideal world they would just let the outside agency run JQH Arena, Juanita K and Plaster. I don't know if it's just complacency or arrogance that keeps them from doing it, but it holds MSU Athletics back.
