Nixa sophomore Jalen Norman was recently named by Rivals as the 65th best prospect for the class of 2013. The 6-4, 185 pound forward averaged 10 points and 5 rebounds for the class 5 district 11 champ Eagles as a freshman. He figures to play a much more prominent role this season after the loss of 7 seniors. Norman plays for Spiece Mo-Kan Elite AAU. 2009-10 highlights: http://www.kspr.com/sports/kspr-jalen-norman-09152010,0,5569231.story
I thought Rivals only rated the top 15 sophomores-to-be (2013 right now). http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/rankings/rank-2752
Yeah, you're not crazy. They do technically only rank the top 15, but if you click on the rivals.com link in the story it takes you to a page that ranks more. It's kind of an unofficial ranking, but I'd say pretty impressive. It's got to make him in the top 2 or 3 in the state for his class.
It'd be nice if we could have more luck with him than we did with Dingman.....a little success in the next few years and it could happen!
I think he was referring to the fact that Dingman was another kid who decided to leave town rather than play near home, though Kirk is also local.
Only time will tell who will be the better player. But as of now I agree Kirk is better, but not by much.
AHHHHHH........YES IT SHOULD. This is a very serious violation. I hope 33 doesn't lose his job over this incorrect posting.
Bump. The coaches were in the house to watch Jalen at the Blue and Gold. He didn't start and sat the bench the entire first quarter, maybe some sort of disciplinary issue.
They were also eyeing fellow Nixa Sophomore Austin Ruder. He led the team yesterday in scoring. Probably about 6'2" with more growing to do, a really good shooting guard type. I saw him last year as a freshmen and sensed that he would probably grow into a D-1 talent at some point. Kind of hard to judge guys while they're still so young, but it's good to have some local kids to keep an eye on.
From Rivals... A natural small forward, the 6-foot-4 sophomore has to play the five for his high school team. Despite giving up a ton of size, he battled with Perry Ellis on both ends of the floor. An energy guy who is always on the move, he's a high level athlete with developing perimeter schools. He finished with 21 points, seven rebounds and a pair of assists.

He is a really versatile player. His body looks very mature for being a sophomore - I hope he continues to grow. If he continues to 6'6" - 6'7" he could develop into a fairly high BCS caliber player.
