Marshall helped lead St. Paul Johnson to a 25-4 mark this year. The Governors were the top seed in the Class AAA Tournament, but were upset by New Prague 83-77 as the Trojans hit 14 3-pointers.

Marshall averaged 16.4 points per game as he shot 49.7 percent from the field, 39.8 percent from 3-point range and 89.4 percent from the charity stripe.

The legend of Marcus Marshall's scoring bursts has now spread to Las Vegas. It's been seen in St. Cloud, the Twin Cities, Indiana, Chicago, Milwaukee, and now the west coast is aware. Marshall has the ability to catch a scoring groove and then rattle off a dozen points in a heartbeat. Last night the total was 13 quick ones as the highlight scorer from St. Paul opened his barrage of points with his patented crossover step back that freezes defenses. Once that move was laid down Marshall attacked for a bucket followed by a rotated three-pointer. Next came another sick dribble drive move to clear space completed with a feathery soft touch for two. A open floor transition bucket was scored and finally Marcus finished things off with another dribble creation this time pulling up to hit at the elbow. At the start of the run Arizona Premier 16s had a one point lead but just minutes later 43 Hoops held the advantage up nine. This is what Marcus does and he does it well totaling a game high 31 points.

    Per Eric Bossi

A relatively unknown point guard from Minneapolis heading into the July evaluation period, Marshall now has nearly 10 mid-major scholarship offers to his name. Guys like him are what the summer is all about. He led his 43 Hoops squad to some good wins, played the right way and as a result he's seen his options open up.

    Per Rivals.com...

"Marcus received an official offer from Missouri State Sunday," said Marshall's high school (assistant) and AAU coach Al Harris. "Marcus also just picked up official offers from Wisconsin-Green Bay and Kent State."

This group goes with his college choices of Albany, Buffalo, Florida Gulf Coast, Indiana State, Murray State, Northern Illinois, South Dakota, South Dakota State, and Missouri-Kansas City.

Marshall has also had some high majors call in the past three months. There was interest from Iowa plus Minnesota watched him at open gym and made some calls.

Rivals.com national recruiting analyst recently had this to say about Marcus:

"A relatively unknown point guard from Minneapolis heading into the July evaluation period, Marshall now has nearly 10 mid-major scholarship offers to his name. Guys like him are what the summer is all about. He led his 43 Hoops squad to some good wins, played the right way and as a result he's seen his options open up." http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1242320

How many guards have we offered and have we offered any one who is a pf or 5? I think that could be our biggest need for the next year.

We've offered Ryan Rosburg & Gavin Thurman. My guess is that we're looking to get one HS PG, one HS 2/3, one HS 4/5 and one juco 5. I was quite impressed with the quality of juco players this staff was able to get pretty late in the game, so I'm sure if we come up short in any of those areas we'll be able to fill spots with quality juco players.

I really like this kid...I also feel like that video doesn't really do him justice. He looked great bringing the ball down the one time they showed it.

Edit: I missed the first video and it showed some more of his skills penetrating to the basket. Impressive.

Marcus Marshall (no relation to Bruce) averaged 16.0 points per game last winter for Coach Vern Simmons' Governors at Johnson High in St. Paul, Minn. His team posted a 23-3 ledger last season. He is a three-star recruit, according to Rivals.com, is noted by ESPN as the No. 3 recruit in the state of Minnesota, and selected Missouri State over Green Bay, Kent State, Murray State, Indiana State and others.

"He comes from a good high school program that won the state title in Minnesota a couple years ago," Lusk said. "He is good with the ball, distributes well and is a talented scorer. He has the ability to create his own shot and set people up. We are happy to have him."
