Spiker Helms SS/2B Longwood CC 6-0 185 switch hit .353 http://www.perfectgame.org/players/playerprofile.aspx?ID=29845
this is a strange sign with our starting 2B and SS will both be jrs when he is a jr. maybe we will redshirt him to take over in case one or both are drafted after their jr seasons. Not a bad sign I just think it is unusual.
You can never have too many middle infielders, and Medrano has a real chance to leave early as you said.
I can't disagree, but maybe they really like the player? Also, we may have wanted a little more experience to back up the spots.
in the 3-4 years I have been following the baseball team, I have not seen them redshirt anyone, except for injuries. I wish there was a way they could do it more, like football and basketball, but with the schoolie limits, I understand why they usually don't In the last couple of years, I have not seen many of the Juco players come in and make much of an impact. I understand the reasons why alot of kids go juco---biggest being full schoolies---but I also believe there is a big difference in the quality of competition and it does take a while to get up to speed. I guess Woodbury and Mazzola were the last 2 Juco's that did well and Mazz took until midseason of his senior year to catch fire, but when he did, he was really on a tear.
Medrano could end up at 3rd this year with CC at 2nd, so that would leave an open spot for this kid the next year. No matter where he plays, we will need some sticks !!
